Out of the matrix… more

Around the edge of the dot array.

Things that inspire me at the first glance are the ordinary things: ladders, scaffoldings, shopping baskets, sewage grates. What I always wish is to convince people not to be afraid of the vivisection of those very things, but to have the courage to go through the skin of exteriority and make them see what it is I see: geometry, form, structures.

The most important aspect for me in artistic expression is how I am painting while I am painting. I am trying to express the substances of things only through form, trying to play with senses and cheat the mind, using very a simple tool: the template.

In the process of creating ever more abstract images, I am faced with the problem of relating images to its potential viewers, namely expressing one’s own opinion without having to fear its questions. So, what is it representing? For this reason I have decided to use a template that is in opposition to non-template type of thinking, which I also expect from the viewer. So I focus on the subjective values of form, because the appearance of things exists only from a particular point of view. After all, the subjective forms are conditioned by the point of view.

By the form and the structure of my art I’m referring to a traditional topographical puzzle called the nine dots puzzle. The puzzle proposed an intellectual challenge to connect the dots by drawing four straight, continuous lines that pass through each of the nine dots, and never lifting the pencil from the paper. The conundrum is easily resolved, but only if you draw the lines outside the confines of the square area defined by the nine dots themselves. The puzzle only seems difficult because we imagine a boundary around the edge of the dot array. The heart of the matter is the unspecified barrier which is typically perceived.
