Joanna Mlacka

The soul of what passes by … more

Rough beauty.

Joanna Mlacka´s artworks are inspired by the real world where she finds the shapes of objects and floral elements. These objects sometimes belong to the world of used, unwanted, neglected things or another time, they are meticulously arranged by human hands in some quite unexpected environments. “I’ve chosen objects, which appeal to me by their form and a story. I am just seeing them growing in the picture, sometimes quite unpredictable is my main inspiration”, says Joanna.

While painting objects get monumental shapes put stricly in an artwork space. By colour, its intensity and transparency the artist tries to change them into creations which are almost bestowed with personality. She often refers to her own visions, associations and memories, intuitively conveying people’s stories. That´s why the constructed objects are often suspended in a surreal space. These paintings are metaphors of reality, symbols and signs of items and they raise questions about the nature of humans and their environment. They carry particular meanings in fluid times and spaces – they fit there with their form and seduce with the hidden beauty of their soulful characters to have a look at what passes as fast as we do. Joanna Mlacka creates landscapes of us.
